Lodos! You are the Endive of Wind!

I'm still getting used to the idea that in certain parts of the world it is feasible to be outside and actually enjoy it in February. And without a jacket of all things! This weekend winds blowing from the south, called Lodos, came in with a force and carries with it mild temperatures, which I love and sometimes sand, which I am indifferent to. Its also infamous for causing headaches. And thats why I hate it (I also really, really, really hate endives).

Usually the Marmara sea is a pretty mild mannered body of water, but when Lodos comes to play, it freaks out. Waves were crashing over the sea wall and we narrowly escaped getting drenched a few times, a la Seaworld style. Everyone was out and the whole population was squished together on the far end of the sidewalk.

Surfs up?

With Lodos being all warm, I put some laundry out on the balcony. I had just taken out a heavy sweater and turned around to put the basket away when WHOOOOOSH! It flies away and floats down from the 5th floor before landing nicely in the garden, everything still inside. A man walking on the street just looked up, smiled and waved. I ran down and picked it up, kind of embarrassed, but super relieved it was just socks inside and no underwear.

  1. I've only ever seen the Marmara sea looking rather still and murky. I like the photos of the Lodos version.
